Been cleaning this week, a tradition I have to start the new year off with my house in order, so to speak. Of course I can't get my house completely in order - that would require a bulldozer or several tons of dynamite. At any rate, I cleaned out my guest room, which had accumulate the cast-off stuff of the last year, plus the things from last winter when my son moved into his sister's old room and I took his room for a sewing/craft room.

OUCH. I hurt.

Monday I sorted all my yarn and got the sewing room in order, and now the guest room is again usable. We're waiting on the 1-800-GOT-JUNK guys to show up and haul away the carnage. Still have to get into the garage and get the stuff out of there before they show up at around 4:30, but it will be nice to have a bunch of crap out of the house.

So, what rituals do other people have for the end of the old year/beginning of the new? Anything cool?

I like to "start the year off right" by making a nice dinner for my husband and me to enjoy. Steak and potatoes and veg and champagne. Makes it feel special at home.
